In the early winter we got that itch to make something that was truly ours. We knew that we wouldn't have much time between projects so we had to work quick. And now we are excited to not only show you the finished product, but also some behind the scenes content that we think you'll like.
In the time lapse below you can see how the puppets were made. Everything starts with a drawing, that is traced on thicker paper, cut out, and painted. It's a surprisingly simple process that yields great results (if you don't mind us saying so).
The animator moves the paper puppet (like the one above) fractions of an inch at a time, taking pictures of each pose to create the illusion of movement.
Some shots were more post heavy than others. This one shot needed motion tracking, green screen, particle effects and lighting effects to enhance what was shot in camera for a (if I may say so myself) beautiful result.
